Where are the preschools located?

As part of our mission to provide support services to the school districts we serve, Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center operates preschool classrooms in six locations in Morrow and Richland counties. Half-day enrollment in the 10 classrooms totals approximately 250 students.

Who can attend?

Parents of three- to five-year-olds in Mid-Ohio ESC’s client school districts can enroll their child in one of our half-day preschools. Both typically-developing children, as well as those with a special need that affects their motor coordination, speech, language, hearing, sight or development, are encouraged to apply.grocery store1

What is the cost?

Tuition is $75 per month. Some students may be eligible for free tuition, including those with special needs who meet certain criteria. Transportation may be provided in some locations.

 What are the class sizes?

Half-day classes operate with a ratio of 14 students to two adults.

What will my child learn?

IMG_7779bTaught by a teacher with Early Childhood Teaching Certification, preschool classes include a foundation in literacy and language development, as well as an introduction to computers, art and physical education activities. The curriculum is aligned with state content standards and focuses on pre-reading skills, social and emotional development, motor development, cognition and general knowledge in math, science and social studies. Services are also provided by occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech/language therapists and school psychologists, as well as a school nurse.

With alternating active and quiet activities, children meet as a group with their teacher. Children are also given opportunities to explorethe center-based classroom and take part in art, dramatic play and block building, as well as enjoy the reading corner and computer stations.

What is your preschool program’s philosophy?

We believe that each child is a unique individual with an unlimited capacity for learning. We believe that young children learn optimally through interaction with peers, adults and their physical environment. Since children also learn through play by connecting past experiences to new ones, our role as teachers is to provide an environment that is responsive to their interests and needs and to work together with parents and other community resources.
