Crawford County Spelling Bee winner

          After 10 rounds of competition, Alex Wion, an eighth grader from Bucyrus Middle School, is the Crawford County Spelling Bee Champion.  Alli Scott, an eighth grader from Wynford, was the runner-up.

 

          Thirty spellers competed in the bee held on January 12 at William Crawford Intermediate School.  Others placing in the Top 12 included Elizabeth Wilson,

Bucyrus 4th grade; Malia Posey, Bucyrus 5th grade; Alex Wion, Bucyrus 8th grade; Brock Ritzhaupt, Colonel Crawford 8th grade; Shiyenne Current, Crestline 7th grade; Olivia Corwin, Crestline 7th grade; Ben Rinehart, Galion 5th grade; Makayla Crockett, Galion 4th grade; Alli Scott, Wynford 8th grade; Drew Johnson, Wynford 4th grade; Max Phillips, St. Bernard 8th grade; and Chloe Sargent, St. Bernard 8th grade.

 

          Every speller will receive a certificate and the champion and first runner-up receive trophies.  Certificates and trophies are provided by the Bucyrus Telegraph Forum.

 

          The top twelve finishers will be invited to participate in the Tri-County Spelling Bee held at Mid-Ohio ESC on February 9 at 6:30 p.m.  The alternate date is February 16.

 

The public is welcome to attend the spelling bee.  Mid-Ohio ESC is located at 890 West Fourth Street in Mansfield.
