Morrow County Spelling Bee

   

Will Dixon wins Morrow County Spelling Bee

 

After nine rounds of competition, Will Dixon, an eighth grader from Highland Middle School, is the Morrow County Spelling Bee Champion.  Luke Crowl, a sixth grader from Highland, was the runner-up.

 

          Thirty-eight spellers competed in the bee held on January 26 at Park Avenue Elementary School in Mount Gilead. Others placing in the Top 12 included Madison Brehm, eighth grader from Cardington Local Schools; Maleigha Holtrey, sixth grader from Cardington Local Schools; Marlo Young, eighth grader from Cardington Local Schools; Caitlin Thieret, fifth grader from Highland Local Schools; Dylan Striker, fifth grader from Highland Local Schools; Aiden Bateson, fourth grader from Highland Local Schools; Nathan Weaver, fifth grader from Northmor Local Schools; Elijah Goding, fifth grader from Northmor Local Schools; Olivia Carns, sixth grader from Northmor Local Schools; and Hunter AkaliRai, fifth grader from Northmor Local Schools.

 

          Every speller will receive a certificate and the champion and first runner-up receive trophies.  Certificates and trophies are provided by the Mansfield News Journal.

 

          The top twelve finishers will be invited to participate in the Tri-County Spelling Bee held at Mid-Ohio ESC on Thursday, February 9, at 6:30 p.m.  The alternate date is February 16.
