Tri-County Spelling Bee winner named

Maggie Sheridan from Lexington was the overall winner.

 

 After 12 rounds of competition, Maggie Sheridan, a seventh grader from Lexington Middle School, is the Tri-County Spelling Bee Champion after spelling  the championship word, ‘hermetically’, which means in a way that is completely airtight .  Maggie was also this year’s Richland County champion and was last year’s Tri-County champion. Max Phillips, an eighth grader from St. Bernard School in New Washington, was the runner-up.

 

 Thirty-three spellers competed in the bee held on February 9, at Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center in Mansfield. The Tri-County Spelling Bee is comprised of the top twelve spellers in Crawford, Richland and Morrow Counties representing sixteen local school districts.

 

 Every speller received a certificate and the champion and first runner-up received trophies.  Certificates and trophies are provided by the Mansfield News Journal.
