Mid-Ohio Learning Center Preschool gets 5-star rating

Mid-Ohio Learning Center Preschool was recently awarded a prestigious 5-star rating in the new Step Up to Quality rating system, which is based on national research standards.
Step Up to Quality is Ohio’s rating system administered by the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. Participating programs can earn from one to five stars.
In December, Mid-Ohio ESC’s Preschool located in Plymouth also received a 5-star Step Up to Quality rating.
Under the leadership of Preschool Coordinators Stacy Crawford and Toni Zehe and with the assistance of Intervention Specialist/Lead Teacher Jenny Phillips and Paraprofessionals Debby Greter and Cathy Rambo, the preschool team submitted a comprehensive written report. Earlier this spring, ODE evaluators visited the preschool, conducted interviews and observed instruction in the classroom, as well as reviewing teacher lesson plans, assessments, data collection, artifacts and practices.
According to Crawford, “Our staff provides top notch education to both typically developing peers and children with various ranges of special needs, and we were so pleased to earn a 5-star rating. This year for example, we worked on teaching the preschoolers American Sign Language in order to help our non-verbal students.”
