Robot Allows Students to Attend Class

A student from home can use the Ipad on a robot to interact with teachers and classmates.

Having a sick child who has to stay home from school for long periods of time can be stressful in so many ways.

The child's well-being is a top priority, then a close second is their education.

The question is, how will the child ever catch up and will they be able to accelerate to the next level? Have you ever thought that technology could be helpful?

Buckeye Central rented a robot from Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center to bring students closer to school even if they’re at home.

Christine Close, a guidance counselor at Buckeye Central, is the one who discovered this amazing technology that will bring the classroom home to children who can’t make it to school.

“During a counselor's meeting at Mid Ohio, we were shown the robots and how to use them and I loved them,” Close said. “We used them last year for a student who was out for a while.”

Since the integration of this technology BC has used this robot on two other students and had a great success with it.

“It’s a great tool for the students,” Close said.

BC rented this intellectual bot so students who are very ill can still connect with teachers and friends and aren’t left behind on school work.

The robot works by letting the student communicate with the teacher and their classmates by listening and seeing live so they can understand what they are being taught like they are actually in the classroom.

A student can control this robot from home from any device as long as they have access to Double Robotics software so they can connect and control the robot in each classroom.

Not only can the student see the environment around them but the student also has the choice to be seen, or not be seen by their classmates and teacher.

Students no longer have to be confused or afraid of long illnesses that take them away from school. No longer do they have to struggle to comprehend what they couldn't see first hand.

Technology has come such a long way, not only for the world, but also for our small community.

This was a very nice article, and Mid-Ohio ESC is proud to be able to provide robots to districts.
