Crawford County Spelling Bee Winner Named

 

Another successful Crawford County Spelling bee is in the books.  After 12 rounds of competition, Rachel Teynor, a seventh grader from Colonel Crawford Local Schools, is the Crawford County Spelling Bee Champion with the winning word, pavilion.  Maddy Martin, a sixth grader from St. Bernard, was the runner-up.

 

          Twenty-eight spellers competed in the bee held on January 10 at Buckeye Central Local Schools.  Others rounding out the top spellers included Zachary Flood, eighth grade from Buckeye Central; Chris Palmer, seventh grade from Bucyrus; Emma Scott, eighth grade from Colonel Crawford; Lily Riddle, eighth grade, and Drake Moyer, seventh grade from Crestline; Jillian Capretta, sixth grade from Galion; Madeleine Weithman, seventh grade from St. Bernard; Drew Johnson, sixth grade, Emily Schuster, fifth grade, Lauren Ferguson, fifth grade, and Cassandra Kurek, seventh grade from Wynford.

 

          Every speller received a certificate and the champion, and first runner-up received awards.  Certificates and awards are provided by the Bucyrus Telegraph Forum.

 

          The top qualifiers will be invited to participate in the Tri-County Spelling Bee held at Mid-Ohio ESC on February 14 at 6:30 p.m.  The alternate date is February 21.

 

The public is welcome to attend the spelling bee.  Mid-Ohio ESC is located at 890 West Fourth Street in Mansfield.
