Mansfield, OH (March 25, 2025) – Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center is dedicated to promoting professional development among area educators, administrators and other staff. Registration is currently open for our next round of network meetings to be held on the Mid-Ohio campus, 890 W. Fourth Street in Mansfield. During the scheduled network meetings, additional information about Ohio's Learning Standards, Extended Standards and practical challenges will be given. These meetings are designed to provide a combination of professional learning, ODE updates, networking and collaborative problem-solving. The dates and times for each session are as follows:
● Speech-Language Therapists: April 1, 2025; 8:30-10:30 a.m. (virtual)
● Psychologists: April 1, 2025; 8:30-10:30 a.m. (virtual)

Lexington A squeaked by Wooster D and Ontario with 111 points to their 109. It all came down to the last match of the evening. Lexington A is made of Quinn G., Ben M., Gracie C. and Ina G. Wooster D includes Simon Kline, Bryson Doretich, Harrison Snodgrass, Benny Maibach, Gwen Vizzo, Hannah Abbott and Ian Webb. Ontario included Albany Hacker, Samantha Hamilton, Isaac Hohman, Riya Sasikumar and Emelyn Truax.

The High School Winter Tournament was in person. Coaches and students alike were appreciative, and the energy level was high as students participated. The tournament ran very smoothly, and we congratulate all teams along with our winners!

For JV, Highland A defeated Highland B with a score of 45-30. Highland A includes Zane Granger, Handrick Karya, Bailey Moreland, Drennyn Mooty and Josh Van Horne. Highland B is made up of Mehraneh Matin, Malin Fichtner, Kieran Taylor, Mason Johnson, Hayden Brooks and Eneas Peren Chu.

Mansfield, OH (March 18, 2025) – Spring has sprung and for our local art teachers, this means art show season! Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center is excited to host their annual Artapolooza fine arts festival. This year, it will take place from April 4th through April 9th at the Mid-Ohio Conference Center at 890 W. Fourth Street in Mansfield.
“This year’s event is shaping up to be another incredible year with 34 school buildings participating,” stated Jennifer Pennell, Mid-Ohio ESC Gifted Education Consultant and coordinator of this year’s event. The art gallery will be open on Friday, April 4th from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, April 5th from 10 a.m. to 4: p.m. and Sunday, April 6th from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The gallery will also be open during the week on Monday, April 7th through Wednesday, April 9th from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
This year the art awards presentation will be held on Wednesday, April 9th at 6:30 p.m. in Artist’s Hall. A slideshow presentation and gallery walk will also be available on Mid-Ohio ESC’s website at the end of the event. “This will allow the public to be able to view the gallery and awards virtually as well,” stated Pennell. Mid-Ohio ESC would like to thank Schmidt Security Pro for their generous support of Artapolooza and for providing funding for the awards.
As in previous years, Artapolooza will be accepting all types of visual art projects: paintings, drawings, sculptures, as well as mixed media and digital art. Pennell emphasized that students from all area schools, not just MOESC member districts, are all welcome and may submit projects for the festival.
Pennell further stated, “Artapolooza is about celebrating the arts, something that is important to every child’s education. We are supporting the belief from the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce that education in the Fine Arts is essential in developing the whole child."

Mansfield, OH (March 14, 2025) – Mid-Ohio ESC will be one of five locations hosting an Ohio AI Summit this summer. The Northeast session will be held at the Mid-Ohio ESC Conference Center, 890 Fourth Street, Mansfield on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Educators from across the state of Ohio are invited to come together, be inspired and share their expertise and ideas around AI literacy and innovation.

Mansfield, OH (March 12, 2025) – Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center recognized 14 senior students from client school districts for their academic success, school and community service at the annual Franklin B. Walter Scholarship Award Program on March 11th.
Four students were awarded $500 scholarships each based on their school grades, test scores, activities and an essay detailing the positive impact of one educator in their lives. All students read their tributes aloud and introduced their “Positive Impact Person” to the audience of over 100 people, including family members and school administrators.
Winners of the $500 scholarships made possible by the Mid-Ohio ESC Board of Governors were awarded to: Rebekah Case, Lucas Local Schools; Jeremy Leber, Crestview Local Schools; Isabella Stang, Bucyrus City Schools; and Katelyn Swingle, Plymouth-Shiloh Local School.
Others honored as Franklin B. Walter Scholarship Award nominees included Will Baker, Mount Gilead; Chelsea Dees, Mansfield; Owan Gongwer, Lexington; Grant Keep, Clear Fork; Nathan Mendiola, Galion; Samantha Myers, Madison; Brock Rowe, Crestline; William Sears, Northmor; Landon Sowards, Pioneer CTC; and Alexa VanHorne, Highland.
MOESC Superintendent Kevin D. Kimmel said, “These 14 students truly represent the best of the best in the region, and I want to congratulate them on their many accomplishments. I also want to thank the individuals that the students selected as their Positive Impact Person. This is quite an honor to know that you have made a difference in these students' lives.”
Bucyrus High School Senior Isabella Stang will represent Crawford County at the Ohio Educational Service Center Association (OESCA) All-Scholastic Student Awards Luncheon on April 14, 2025. Ohio’s county superintendents started this initiative in 1990 to recognize outstanding scholars from across the state. Isabella’s academic achievements, personal accomplishments and community service have qualified her as one of the best and brightest in the Class of 2025.

Mansfield, OH (March 10, 2025) – Educators from districts in Crawford County, Morrow County and Richland County will have the opportunity to participate in the third Teacher Boot Camps this summer. Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center's Business Advisory Council collaborates with workforce development partners in each county to organize these programs to show teachers what goes on behind the scenes in businesses in each county. Participants will gain first-hand experience with the rewarding careers available in manufacturing and technology and the skills students need to obtain and retain these local positions.

Educators must apply for this professional development opportunity by April 25, 2025. Those who are selected to participate in the Boot Camp will receive the following benefits:
● Three graduate credits from Ashland University at a rate of $125 out-of-pocket cost for the teacher. (this is a $415 savings being funded through the Governor’s Office).
● All educators will be required to create a project/unit to use with students during the 2025-26 school year. Teachers will present this project to businesses and administrators on the final day of the Boot Camp.
● Instruction and guidance from top-level professionals at participating businesses, Mid-Ohio ESC and local Economic Development partners.
These summer sessions are set to be a huge success. The summer Boot Camp programs provide customized opportunities for educators to explore the workforce development needs and opportunities in their respective communities. The experiences for teachers in the Manufacturing and Technology Boot Camp programs can be used to strengthen classroom career readiness connections that are embedded in core subject area instruction.
Amy Wood, Mid-Ohio ESC's Director of Grants and Special Projects, stated, "Teachers are inherently our best career readiness advisors. Teacher Bootcamps are a meaningful way for teachers to enhance their understanding of the current landscape of local and regional career opportunities, and then use that knowledge to better integrate career-connected learning into their classrooms.”
The deadline to apply is April 25, 2025, with twelve spots available in each county. All core content and special area middle & high school teachers, school counselors and career coaches may apply at the links below.
