MOESC Student Services to Host Virtual Navigating IEP Compliance Training

Mansfield, OH (January 8, 2026) – The Department of Student Services at Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center is offering three opportunities to attend its virtual Navigating IEP Compliance Training, led by Kylie Dennison-Rebon, Central OH Regional School Psychology Consultant, and Johanna Gilland, Central OH Regional Speech Language Pathology Consultant.

Open Registration for January 2026 Network Meetings

Mansfield, OH (January 6, 2026) – Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center is dedicated to promoting professional development among area educators, administrators and other staff. Registration is currently open for our next round of network meetings in November to be held on the Mid-Ohio campus, 890 W. Fourth Street in Mansfield. During the scheduled network meetings, additional information about Ohio's Learning Standards, Extended Standards and practical challenges will be given. These meetings are designed to provide a combination of professional learning, ODE updates, networking and collaborative problem-solving. The dates and times for each session are as follows: 

Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment: January 16, 2026; 8:30-1 PM 

Special Education Coordinators: January 16, 2026; 8:30-1 PM

Testing Coordinator: January 16, 2026; 1-2:30 PM 

Student Services: January 28, 2026; 1:30-3:30 PM

MOESC Board of Governors Meets, Sets Date for Organizational Meeting

Mansfield, OH (December 18, 2025) – At their meeting on Wednesday, December 17, the Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center Board of Governors set the date for the Organization and January Regular Board Meeting for January 21, 2026. 

The meeting also marked the final board meeting for members Glenna Plotts and Linda Schumacher. Plotts concluded 10 years of service on the board while Schumacher completed two years of service.

“Glenna and Linda have both given their time and talents in service to our districts, educators and students, and we are grateful for their commitment to Mid-Ohio ESC,” Superintendent Kevin D. Kimmel said. “Their leadership and dedication have helped strengthen our organization, and we thank them for the positive impact they have made.”

The Mid-Ohio ESC Board of Governors and administration extend their appreciation to Plotts and Schumacher for their years of service and wish them well in their future endeavors.

MOESC to Host Second Annual High School Mentorship Program Kickoff Event

Mansfield, OH (December 16, 2025) – The Mid-Ohio ESC will hold its second High School Mentorship Program Kickoff Event on January 12, 2026, at the Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center. Due to the highly successful launch of the inaugural SLP Mentorship Program, which began with a kickoff event in January 2025, the Mid-Ohio ESC High School Mentorship Program is expanding for the 2026 Cohort to include a new career pathway in School Psychology. As a result, high school students can now explore mentorship opportunities in both Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) and School Psychology.

The Mid-Ohio SLP/SP Mentorship Team, comprised of SLP/SP Mentorship Coordinator Kevin Fourman; Central Ohio School Psychology Consultant Kylie Dennison-Rebon; Mid-Ohio ESC School Psychology Lead Julia Pilla; and Central Ohio SLP Consultant Johanna Gilland, developed the SLP/SP Mentorship Program.

As part of the mentorship program, mentees in the 2026 Cohort will shadow experienced professionals (SLPs or School Psychologists) and gain exposure to their day-to-day roles. In addition,they will be connected with local higher education institutions to understand the academic pathway from high school through graduate school, including a tour of a collegiate program.

Throughout the course of the program, students will explore communication disorders, intervention strategies and clinical practice while investigating student mental health, academic support, behavioral interventions and assessment.

MOESC to host “Step into the Future with AI”

Mansfield, OH (December 11, 2025) – The Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center will host “Step into the Future with AI” on December 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Mid-Ohio Conference Center, 890 W. 4th Street in Mansfield.

Registration is required for this free event, which is open to MOESC employees only. Attendees will earn their AI Certification and explore how AI can elevate their teaching and daily work.

Student Services December Training

Mansfield, OH (December 9, 2025) – The Department of Student Services at Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center has two upcoming professional development programs open for registration in December. 

First, MOESC will offer Executive Functioning Training on December 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This training, provided by MOESC Assistant Director of Student Services Shelly Patrick, is based on the expertise of Lisa Rogers who is a nationally recognized behavior intervention specialist and Director of Educating Diverse Learners. Patrick will share practical, evidence-based executive-functioning resources for all grade levels that can be applied in the classroom as soon as the next day. The client/member cost for any of the courses is $65 while the non-client cost is $75. Registration is required. 

Attendees will walk away with tools that can be used immediately to help students:

  • Stay on task
  • Follow directions
  • Manage emotions

In addition, Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center will host Crisis Prevention Institute, or CPI, refresher training on December 17 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The client/member cost for any of the courses is $75 while the non-client cost is $90. Registration is required.

These in-person training sessions will be held at the Mid-Ohio Conference Center, 890 W. 4th Street in Mansfield.
