Crawford County Spelling Bee winner named

Runner-up is Drew Johnson from Wynford and the Champion is Luke Biederman from Colonel Crawford

After 15 rounds of competition, Luke Biederman, a seventh grader from Colonel Crawford Local Schools, is the Crawford County Spelling Bee Champion with the winning word, intrepid.  Drew Johnson, a sixth grader from Wynford, was the runner-up.

 

            Thirty spellers competed in the bee held on January 11 at Bucyrus High School.  Others placing in the Top 12 included Jayleen Spaulding, Buckeye Central 7th grade,  

Isis Wagner, Buckeye Central 8th grade, Rosalyn Johnson, Bucyrus, 8th grade, Ashley Davis, Bucyrus, 8th grade, Morgan Shipman, Colonel Crawford, 6th grade, Adam Geiger, Galion 7th grade, Owen Fruth, Wynford, 8th grade, Gwen Ruth, Wynford 7th grade, Emily Schuster, Wynford 4th grade, and Samantha Weithman, St. Bernard 8th grade.

 

            Every speller received a certificate and the champion, and first runner-up received awards.  Certificates and awards are provided by the Bucyrus Telegraph Forum.

 

            The top twelve finishers will be invited to participate in the Tri-County Spelling Bee held at Mid-Ohio ESC on February 8 at 6:30 p.m.  The alternate date is February 15.

 

The public is welcome to attend the spelling bee.  Mid-Ohio ESC is located at 890 West Fourth Street in Mansfield.
