Academic Challenge in March 2020

With all of the recent news around the Covid-19 pandemic, we felt it would be prudent for us to reach out with our current plan for the upcoming academic challenge tournaments.  Please be advised that no one can predict the future, and these plans could be changed (for us or by us) at the last moment as more information is released or executive orders are given.

At this time we do not feel the need to cancel the events, rather to work to restrict the audience to limit the numbers as we attempt to prevent us from falling into any “mass gathering” definitions.  Therefore, we will be following these guidelines:

1. 4^th grade Academic Challenge, Tuesday, March 17 AND 5^th grade Academic Challenge, Wednesday, March 18
   1. We are inviting all students listed on the rosters, coaches and readers to attend so that we can move forward with all teams that registered.
   2. We are asking that students bring only one adult audience member, this again in an effort to minimize risk and keep numbers small.
      1. While we cannot broadcast this event, we will post a live link to the wall score sheet that can be accessed at any time so that those not able to be in attendance can follow the progress of their team(s).  You will find this link on our Mid-Ohio ESC website (moesc.net) for each separate event.
          
2. HS Academic Challenge, Wednesday, March 18 (during the day)
   1. We are inviting all students listed on the rosters, coaches and readers to attend so that we can move forward with all teams that registered.
   2. Due to the timing of this event and the number of students involved, we are not going to allow additional spectators (family members or otherwise).  This again is in an effort to minimize risk and keep numbers small.
      1. While we cannot broadcast this event, we will post a live link to the wall score sheet that can be accessed at any time so that those not able to be in attendance can follow the progress of their team(s).  You will find this link on our Mid-Ohio ESC website (moesc.net) for each separate event.

Furthermore, should you or your district decide you wish to withdraw from the tournament, please let me know as soon as possible so that I can attend to the necessary scheduling details.  We are all doing our best to follow the guidance received while also providing quality opportunities for our students.
