Fall 2022 Academic Challenge winners announced

Plymouth-Shiloh A – first place team Rylie Edwards, Kaden Caughenbaugh, Kansas Huston, Katlyn Swingle, and Addison Slone

October Academic Challenge Summary

Monday, Oct 27 (HS Fall League Scrimmage)

8 districts competed in a scrimmage as a “soft start” to our 2020 Fall League Competition virtually.

We all learned great ideas regarding how to make the process smoother to ensure quality competition.

Our first league night is Nov 2 with two additional dates to follow.  A league Varsity and JV winner is anticipated to be announced on Nov 23.

Tuesday, Oct 28 (5th/6th grade)

Two districts – a total of 6 teams participated in a fully virtual “Throwback Tournament”.

Crestview had 4 teams

Plymouth-Shiloh had 2 teams

As the tournament moved on everyone became more comfortable and tech savvy, such that our rounds became increasingly faster and we ultimately completed 5 rounds in the anticipated amount of time.  This is due in large part to the preplanning and support of each coach!

Plymouth-Shiloh A eked out a one point win over Crestview A

Wednesday, Oct 29 (7/8th grade)

Three districts – a total of 8 teams participated in a fully virtual “Throwback Tournament”.

Colonel Crawford had 2 teams, including our second place team. (pictured below)

Crestview had 4 teams, including our first place team

Lexington had 2 teams

For this tournament, Lexington elected to bring their teams and reader to Mid-Ohio ESC where we hosted them while they participated in the fully virtual tournament.

We consider this first round of virtual Academic Challenge Tournaments a HUGE success.  Not only did students quickly adapt to the virtual buzzers and online format, but they were fully engaged!  We are looking forward to hosting more districts and teams starting in January for grades 4-8.
