Resident Educator Trainings To Be Held October 14th

Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center is proud to announce sessions of Ohio Resident Educator Training on October 14th. The first session will be from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. for first year Resident Educators (REs). The second session will be from 10 a.m. to noon for third year REs. Both sessions will take place at Mid-Ohio ESC, 890 W. Fourth St., Mansfield. Both trainings will be conducted by ODE Resident Educator Credentialed Trainers Linda Williams and Lisa Kuhar.

For the first session, this interactive training is designed to assist new educators in navigating the Resident Educator’s program requirements. The training will include the background of the program, teacher responsibilities, mentor expectations, and coordinator responsibilities. REs are strongly encouraged to invite their mentors and/or RESA coordinator to attend the training free of charge. This training will provide an opportunity for the RE and the mentor to work together and gain a deeper understanding of the RESA program. There will be a Zoom option available for REs and mentors who are unable to attend in person. Year-one REs are encouraged to attend the year-three session to learn more about the assessment process.

In the Year-Three session, REs will be assisted in navigating the Resident Educator’s assessment requirements. The assessment is summative in nature and consists of one Lesson Reflection that requires resident educators to demonstrate reflection and decision making regarding their instructional practices. Once again, REs are strongly encouraged to invite their mentors and/or RESA coordinator to attend the training free of charge. This training will provide an opportunity for the RE and the mentor to work together on planning and preparing for the assessment. There will be a Zoom option available for REs and mentors who are unable to attend in person.

After both sessions, Mid-Ohio is offering REs, mentors, and coordinators an opportunity to work, plan, and prepare for the year’s activities. This work session will be open from 1:00-3:00 pm and is included in the cost of the training. This is not required; it is only an opportunity for teams to work together. A Mid-Ohio consultant will be present to answer questions and offer support.

Each session costs $75 to attend. Registration can be completed online at http://www.moesc.net/register. For more information about the training, contact Dr. Mark Burke at (419) 774-5520 or email him at burke.mark@moesc.net.
