Pioneer Career and Technology Center Announces Treasurer Search

Shelby, OH (May 17, 2023) – Pioneer Career and Technology Center, located in Shelby, Ohio, aims to promote student excellence by developing skills for lifelong learning and engaging in thorough fiscal planning with staff and community involvement. The center is seeking qualified applicants with a strong financial background for the position of Treasurer. The new occupant will succeed Ms. Linda Shumacher, who will be retiring at the end of December with 19 years of service, the last 11 of those served as Treasurer. The expected start date of the new Treasurer will be November 1, 2023.

The Board of Education is seeking a candidate that possesses strong communication skills. Candidates must also be highly self-motivated and enjoy being a part of an engaged career center. The Board of Education will offer a salary that is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Pioneer Career and Technology Center is financially solvent and maintains a balanced budget. 

Pioneer Career and Technology Center offers over 35 programs in a variety of exciting career fields, ranging from Engineering Design and IT Support to Culinary Arts and Health Services. Industry credentials and college credit are earned in many of their programs making the student CAREER READY as well as COLLEGE READY! Pioneer’s partner districts include; Buckeye Central Local, Bucyrus City, Colonel Crawford Local, Crestline Exempted Village, Crestview Local, Galion City, Lexington Local, Lucas Local, Northmor Local, Ontario Local, Plymouth-Shiloh Local, Shelby City, Willard City, and Wynford Local.

Qualified applicants must possess the following qualifications and experiences: hold a valid State of Ohio Treasurer’s license or evidence one will be obtained; hold a Certified Public Investment Certification; previous School Treasurer experience preferred; experience in fiscal procedures and sound fiscal management procedures; experience in school finance, budget preparation, fiscal strategic planning and forecasting, and funds management and business operations; demonstrate organizational and leadership skills; knowledge of Ohio Revised Code as it relates to school treasurer responsibilities; skillfully provide financial leadership for the district; and demonstrate a high degree of moral character and professionalism that reflects positively upon the district.

Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center provides specialized academic and support services to 13 school districts and over 20,000 students in Crawford, Morrow and Richland Counties. Client districts receive services from curriculum, gifted and special education consultants, speech pathologists, psychologists, special education teachers, occupational therapists and physical therapists.
